Sven Playroom Long Island City

Mudland is working with the Durst Organization and Selldorf Architects creating a playroom space for the families at Sven Residential.

Inspired by the playful sculptures and color explorations of Sophie Smallhorn, we worked together with the artist to bring her artful inventiveness to the room, and create a custom set of play objects.

The playroom is designed to maximize fun in a small space, featuring a series of platforms for climbing and building on, flexible seating and tables for projects and play, a reading nook, and several areas that encourage crawling babies to pull up and climb.

Guided by the Theory of Loose Parts, we designed custom toys for the space that are versatile and open-ended, creating ongoing possibilities for discovery through play.
